Out with Sprechzeit · Business story

Twenty brochures left. Then someone offered coffee.

The rain got heavier. A business owner invited us inside. Over coffee, we talked about what we were building — and found someone who could see that future too.

The rain had other plans.

We were out delivering our brochures, with about twenty left to go. It was already raining. Then it started raining even harder. Apparently, the weather had not read our sales plan.

We wanted to show people what we were building with Sprechzeit. That day, building a digital business involved standing outside in the rain with the last of our brochures.

Come in for a coffee.

At one of the businesses we visited, the owner invited us inside for a coffee while we waited for the rain to ease a little. Just like that.

He gave us coffee, and we talked about who we were, what we did and why we believed in our idea. He made time for us. A break from the rain became a conversation that meant a lot.

He had a vision too.

We talked about the hope of running a business without having to answer every call yourself. Being able to concentrate on your work and trust that calls and bookings are being handled reliably.

He could picture that future too. He had his own vision of how his working day could change. It was lovely to realise that someone else could see what we were working towards.

That is the kind of trust we want to earn. A good brochure cannot create it on its own. The technology has to prove itself in everyday use.

What stayed with us.

We had gone out to introduce our business. Then someone made room in his own working day to get to know us, give us a coffee and listen.

That kindness meant something. He saw us out in the rain and invited us in. Such a simple gesture, and such a human one.

There were about twenty brochures left. But when we think about that day, we mostly remember the coffee and the person who offered it.
